General FAQ’s

Other than the face, are there any other areas of the body that you provide “facial” care for?
YES! We provide back facials and exfoliating body wraps, giving your skin a healthy glow.
Do you treat men as well as women?
Yes! With exception of some of the facial waxes (cheeks, lip, chin and sideburns), men are welcome any service.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes! You may purchase a gift card at the front desk.
Can I buy some products you use in your services?
Absolutely! We encourage our clients to purchase our professional products sold only by licensed estheticians, because they are better formulated for individual needs. Our professional products are usually more effective due to higher concentration of performance ingredients—and this means less product is needed.

Waxing FAQ’s

What is Waxing?
Waxing is a form of hair removal that removes the entire hair from the hair follicle. Warm wax is applied to the skin and adheres to the hair. When removed, the hair is pulled from the root.
Why should I wax vs. shaving, electrolysis or laser?
If waxing is done on a consistent basis, the hair will grow back slower, finer, and sparser. Shaving cuts the hair off at the surface of the skin, leaving the quantity and thickness of the hair the same. Shaving may also increase skin sensitivity and cause ingrown hairs to appear. Electrolysis and laser hair removal doesn’t work for everyone and can be very costly.
What kind of wax do you use?
We use two different types of wax. We use hard wax (stripless wax) for more sensitive areas such as the face, neck, bikini/Brazilian area and underarms. This type of wax shrink wraps and sets around the hair and is removed from the skin, making it less painful. We use traditional soft wax for larger areas of the body such as arms, legs, chest, and back. This wax is removed by a cloth strip.
How long can I expect my waxing to last?
If you’ve allowed your hair to grow the proper length prior to waxing, you can expect your hair to grow back a minimum of 1-2 weeks
Will my hair grow back thicker and/or darker?
No. Hair that is removed from the roots will grow back finer if at all.
Can I be waxed if I’m taking Retin A, Renova, or Accutane?
These medication increase the rate at which your skin exfoliates, so waxing could potentially lift your skin as well as hair. Please let your esthetician know if you are on an medications.
Are there any other medications to be aware of?
Since there are many medications that affect the skin and its integrity, please consult your physician in regards to any medications and how it may affect your waxing experience. Some brand names to be aware of: Adapalene, Avita, Tazorac Avage, Proactive, Epiduo, Differin, Strivectin.
What is the difference between a bikini, modified bikini, and Brazilian wax?
Bikini – Hair will be removed that lies outside of the underwear line and an inch from the top. Modified bikini – Hair will be removed beyond the bikini area leaving a small strip that lines up with the labia. It’s up to the client’s discretion on how much they want taken from the top. The maximum amount of hair taken off will line up just above the labia. Brazilian – All hair including the labia will be removed unless the client specifies that they would like to keep a strip. Hair on the inner backside (perianal) will also be removed. If a woman has additional hair on her cheeks, then that is an additional cost.
Can men get Brazilian waxes?
Yes. We have 3 types of male Brazilian waxes: Basic, modified, and Full.

Pre-Waxing/Preparation FAQ’s

How do I prepare for my waxing service?
We recommend that you exfoliate the area several days prior to your appointment. Thoroughly clean the area keeping the skin hydrated, but not greasy from heavy lotions or oils.
How long does my hair have to be?
Hair needs to be at least ¼” to ½” for effective waxing. For most people this means waiting a minimum of 2 weeks from the last time you shaved. The wax needs hair to hold on to, so the longer you wait, the better the results.
Can I get waxed if I’m on my period?
Yes. However, due to the increased hormonal activity, your skin may be more sensitive; avoid waxing 3 days before and the first 3 days of your cycle.
Can I get waxed if I’m pregnant?
Yes! We have techniques to make our expecting clients feel as comfortable as possible during their waxing experience.
Can I tan before I wax?
It’s recommended that you avoid sun exposure for 48 hours prior to and after you wax.

Post-Waxing/Aftercare FAQ’s

How do I prevent Ingrown hairs?
Ingrown hairs are thin hairs that cannot push through the skin resulting in inflammation. The best way to prevent is to gently exfoliate 2-3 times a week. We offer a variety of products to help minimize this condition.
What should I do for aftercare?
Your skin may be sensitive following your wax. Any red bumps or irritation should subside within a few hours. Avoid sun exposure/tanning, baths, hot tubs, pools, heavy lotions, and exfoliation for 48 hours following your service.
How often should I get waxed?
This varies depending on the area of the body being waxed. However, we recommend waxing every 4 to 6 weeks.

Facial FAQ’s

Why do I need facials?
A regular facial routine is more about skin health and maintenance than it is about luxury or pampering, although many do find it to be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Facial services help increase circulation and stimulate the skin. They can also help slow down premature aging and drastically improve conditions such as acne, redness and Rosacea. Facials are a great preventative treatment to help you beat wrinkles before they occur, and can also help you achieve lighter, brighter, younger-looking skin. In addition to healthier skin, many men enjoy regular facials to help minimize irritation, redness, ingrown hairs, and razor burn associated with shaving.
Why do I need a professional skin therapist?
For the same reason doctor and dentist check-ups are necessary: for better health! Skin is a living part of your body (your largest organ, in fact), that defends against environmental assaults and extreme temperatures. It helps eliminate toxins from the body, and it is continually renewing and protecting. To look and feel its best, your skin needs personal attention from a professional. Pure Skin Solutions features licensed estheticians, who are intensely educated skin-health experts. They have the answers to your most pressing skin-care concerns. They know how to deliver real, visible results. They are trained to deliver the specific Glo Therapeutics and SkinScript professional skin treatments that will target your specific needs, and prescribe the products that will help maintain your optimum skin health at home in between facials.
How soon will I start seeing results from my facial?
Some people see results immediately, and your skin should feel different right away. The skin feels, clean, smooth, hydrated, and reflects a new level of health that’s visibly noticeable. If the skin has more advanced long-term needs, such as treatment of skin aging, acne or hyper-pigmentation caused by hormonal fluctuations or sun damage, results may not be immediately visible; however, skin health will continue to improve as you follow the advice of your professional skin therapist, and continue your home-care regimen.
What are the long-term benefits of getting regular facials?
Plain and simple: healthy skin! And healthy skin is better-looking skin. The Glo and SkinScript products Pure Skin Solutions uses are designed to help keep skin at an optimal level of fitness – not just cover up with cosmetic results. In addition, when skin is at an optimal level of fitness, your professional skin therapist can more effectively address issues that may arise from time to time, as your skin’s needs are constantly changing.
How can seasonal changes affect my skin?
Similar to the seasons, skin goes through its own fluctuations. Combine nature’s weather cycle with air conditioning and forced-air heating, and you have skin that’s constantly under assault. Cold winds and low temperatures can dry out skin, depriving it of balanced levels of oils, contributing to dryness, sensitivity and premature aging. Prolonged exposure to the sun causes water to evaporate from skin, which is why skin that has recently been burned or tanned requires more moisture than unexposed areas. Forced-air heating also dries out skin: warm, dry air acts like a sponge, soaking up moisture from everything it touches. To help skin stay healthy with the seasons, speak with your esthetician at Pure Skin Solutions about modifying your skin care regimen accordingly. Chances are that with a few product updates, you can keep skin healthy year-round.
If I get a facial, do I have to use Glo or Skinscript products at home?
No, but talk to your esthetician about what products you are using. Many products from drug stores or beauty counters contain ingredients that cause or contribute to skin issues such as dryness, oiliness and redness.
What can I expect at my facial appointment?
Plan to arrive to your first appointment about 5-10 minutes early. You will need to fill out a form listing contact information, allergies and any medications that you are currently taking. Then your esthetician will evaluate your skin using a magnify lamp, ask you about your goals for your skin, and make a recommendation for skincare products and treatments to help you reach those goals. A facial generally consists of a cleansing, exfoliation, steam (in the form of warm towels or a machine), massage and a treatment mask.
What should I do to prepare for my facial?
Since Pure Skin Solutions facials are usually designed to work on your skin from the neck up, you may want to plan on removing your makeup or pulling long hair back. Cosmetics can be reapplied after the service; feel free to bring them with you, or ask about our make-up application services. Men should be clean shaved unless bearded. Other than these few easy steps, simply be ready to relax and enjoy yourself in our private, comfortable facial room.
Will the facial hurt, or be uncomfortable?
You should never feel irritation, burning or discomfort during your facial. All Glo and Skinscript products are created to be non-irritating, and your esthetician is trained to use the best products for your skin type. If for some reason you should feel discomfort, please tell your esthetician immediately.
How often should I get a facial?
Generally, facials are recommended once a month. However, you can discuss your specific needs, desired outcomes and schedule with your esthetician. Also be sure to ask about our facial packages, and save when you purchase and book your regular facials in advance at Pure Skin Solutions.

Chemical Peel FAQ’s

What are chemical / skin peels?
Chemical peels produce controlled injury to the skin, which promote growth of new skin and improved appearance. A variety of chemicals can be used as peeling agents and include glycolic, trichloroacetic (TCA), salicylic and resorcinol. The different chemical solutions produce different degrees of injury to the skin.
What are chemical peels used for?
Chemical peels are used for the treatment of photo-aging (from sun damage), wrinkles, scarring, precancerous lesions, and discoloration (including melasma, freckles, and age spots).
How are chemical peels performed?
There are numerous chemical peels and each one is performed differently. In general, chemical peels usually begin with vigorous cleansing of the skin, followed by application of the appropriate peel.
What is the most popular peel solution?
Glycolic Acid – probably due to the fact that all skin types benefit from Glycolic Acid – is the most commonly recognized chemical peel solution. Salicylic Acid is also very common for use in combating the causes of oily skin and breakouts.
How long do chemical peels take?
Most peels can be performed within a few minutes, depending on size of the area being treated.
What will my skin feel like after a chemical peel?
The state of your skin after a peel depends on the type of chemical used and your skin type. Superficial peels have limited effects. Medium peels may cause some redness.
How many peels will I need?
Generally chemical peels are done once every 2-3 weeks, until the desired results are achieved. Maintenance peels can then be performed once a month.
How long do the results last?
With good sun protection, results can last months, even years. This is dependent upon the depth of the peel. The deeper peels generally provide a long-lasting effect.
What are the risks of chemical peels?
Superficial peels are quite safe, although minor irritation of the skin can occur.
How long after a chemical peel before I can return to normal activities?
  1. Light Peels- The light peel takes approximately three to five days to complete the shedding process. No downtime required.
  2. Medium Peels- Medium peels usually persist for five to seven days. The skin may or may not flake and fall away. AHAs can produce some redness with little or no flaking, depending on the individual.
What should I use at home to maintain the condition of my skin after a chemical peel?
You can use a mild cleanser (Green Tea Cleanser) and always include either Hyaluronic Replenishing Serum / Green Tea Anti-Oxidant Serum as often as needed. You may resume regular skincare 3-5 days after a peel or once redness or peeling is no longer apparent. Sun protection is a must!
